The Sailors Society in New Zealand
The Sailors Society (International Sailors Society New Zealand Incorporated (ISSNZ)) is the umbrella organisation representing the six independent organisations in New Zealand (Auckland, Bay of Plenty, Bluff, Wellington, Otago, Port Taranaki). It is known as the Sailors' Sociiety for routine purposes.
ISSNZ has a Board of Directors representing each of the member societies. The Board appoints a Chairman and an Honorary National Secretary/Treasurer. The Secretary liaises with the members and is the point of contact with the parent body, the Sailors Society in the UK (www.sailors-society.org). The National Secretary and appointed directors serve on the Seafarers Welfare Board of New Zealand.
